Job Description
The Supervisor I, Delivery & Install is responsible for overseeing the scheduling, delivery, and installation of equipment to customers in a timely manner. This role supervises 10 or more delivery personnel and/or multiple delivery locations. The position ensures compliance with DOT and state laws while managing processes, people, and assets involved in fulfilling customer orders, including warehousing, delivery, and reverse logistics.
Primary Responsibilities
- Train delivery personnel in the loading, unloading, and installation of equipment.
- Schedule and route delivery trucks daily according to customer requests.
- Communicate special needs and requests to delivery drivers.
- Ensure equipment is configured per the pick ticket/sales order.
- Process all paperwork accurately and completely.
- Communicate issues to the configuration center manager/transportation manager.
- Ensure delivery fleet is safe to operate and compliant with DOT and state laws.
- Maintain delivery vehicles and develop preventive maintenance schedules.
- Schedule and communicate with third-party delivery companies.
- Ensure on-time delivery and correct equipment shipments.
- Oversee the safe and proper loading/receipt of equipment to transfer centers or configuration centers.
- Assist in the creation of processes and procedures for operational success.
- Work with inventory control managers to monitor inventory quality and maintain appropriate levels.
- Conduct performance evaluations on a timely basis.
- Collaborate with other functional areas to meet external and internal customer needs.
- Manage transfer center expenses and adhere to budget guidelines.
- Establish and track performance metrics for areas within the transfer center.
- Identify customer needs and refer calls to the appropriate department.
- May be required to be certified in the operation and use of warehouse equipment (e.g., forklift, stair climber).
- Effectively recruit, interview, and select staff. Provide coaching and guidance for employee development and performance.
- Ensure compliance with inventory policies and procedures within transfer centers.
- Foster a positive work culture and encourage strong relationships with coworkers and external vendors.
- Adhere to Ricoh’s code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Three to five years of supervisory and management experience in the transportation/delivery industry.
- General knowledge of computerized routing systems and handling hazardous materials.
- Strong computer skills and systems knowledge.
- Familiarity with local carrier routes and standard trucking industry practices and procedures is preferred.
- Eligibility to drive a commercial vehicle according to FMCSR regulations is a plus.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent education required.
Working Conditions
- Typically, an office environment with adequate lighting, ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise levels.
- Work assignments are diversified, requiring the interpretation and application of complex materials, data, and instructions.
- Minimal physical effort is required; work is mostly sedentary but may include walking, standing, bending, reaching, or carrying objects weighing less than 10 lbs (e.g., papers, books, small parts).
- Moderate dexterity is required, with regular application of basic skills (e.g., calculator, keyboard, hand tools, eye/hand coordination).
