Job Description

As a Conductor Trainee at BNSF, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of freight across 28 western states and 3 Canadian provinces. This full-time position offers a salary range of $70,000 to $82,000 annually, with an entry rate of approximately $240.64 per day. The position requires availability for on-call shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Training is provided, including paid on-the-job and classroom instruction for up to 19 weeks. The start date is anticipated for February 3, 2025.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operate track switches and derails to change train routing.
  • Monitor and report daily work, including climbing on/off equipment, managing hand brakes, and connecting/disconnecting air hoses.
  • Conduct inspections of trains and equipment, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and safety protocols.
  • Monitor track conditions and report passing train conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety rules, federal, and state regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment.

Required Experience:

  • Must be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship now and in the future.
  • Ability to work safely in the described working conditions, including extreme weather and around heavy machinery.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, and walking on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, and to distinguish verbal and non-verbal signals.
  • Must meet travel requirements, including travel within the designated seniority region for extended periods.
  • At least 18 years of age or will be by the start date listed above.

  • Employees must adhere to safety rules and policies, including wearing personal protective equipment and responding to safety concerns.
