BNSF Railway is seeking a Mechanic Heavy Equipment (Traveling) to join their team. This full-time position offers a competitive monthly pay rate of $8,726.19 (approx. annual salary of $104,714 to $136,000) depending on hours worked and other factors. The position involves extensive travel to various job sites within the designated seniority region. As a traveling mechanic, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing critical machinery across multiple locations, ensuring operational efficiency and safety. This role is based in Dilworth, MN, with other potential locations in Fargo, ND and Moorehead, MN.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair BNSF’s fleet of equipment, including disassembling, repairing, modifying, and overhauling machinery.
• Work on hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, driveline, and final/planetary drive systems.
• Operate a variety of manual, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools, as well as welders and cutting torches.
• Perform necessary maintenance and repairs to ensure equipment is operational and safe.
• Travel to various job sites within the designated region.
• Adhere to safety regulations, including using safety equipment, responding to concerns, and taking action in emergencies.
• Perform repairs on equipment in diverse weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and sleet.

Required Experience

• Minimum two years of verifiable mechanical work experience or equivalent training.
• At least one year of experience working with gasoline and diesel engines on large industrial equipment.
• Minimum three months of experience with electrical and/or gas welding.
• At least one year of experience with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams and schematics.
• Experience with maintenance of heavy equipment, including the ability to use hand tools and lift up to 60 lbs occasionally.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake endorsements within the first 60 days of employment.

Working Conditions

• This position requires working in a safety-sensitive environment with exposure to extreme weather conditions, including hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet.
• Employees must be comfortable working on uneven surfaces, around loud machinery and fumes, and performing tasks on equipment that may involve working at heights or in confined spaces.
• Travel to job sites is required, and employees will be expected to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
