Job Description

The primary purpose of this job is to operate various types and sizes of computer numeric controlled production machine tools in the machining of forgings or stock to customer requirements and specifications using a variety of cutting tools. This is a full-time position, and it is onsite.

Pay Range: Between $26.35 and $35.17/hour, depending on qualifications

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work independently with/without minimal direction from senior personnel in the functional area.
  • Follow established quality and safety standards.
  • Receive work instructions, operation sheets, setup sheets, and check sheets from department supervision.
  • Read and interpret dimensional drawings, tool setup sheets, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Operate various types of computer numeric controlled production machines, machining forgings made from metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, Inconel, and titanium to close tolerances (e.g., +/- .001).
  • Perform basic machine setup with/without minimal direction.
  • Load and unload pieces manually or with hoist; apply coolant lubricant and change worn or damaged tools as required.
  • Use precision measuring devices (e.g., micrometers, dial indicators) to check machined dimensions and surface finishes.

Required Experience

  • Basic Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent, Vo-Tech Certificate, or associate degree in electrical, mechanical, or a related field.
    • 1 year of experience in a transferable industry.
    • Basic reading, math, and measurement comprehension.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • 3-10 years of previous machining experience.
    • Knowledge of basic machining principles and GD&T.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; Vo-Tech Certificate or associate degree in electrical, mechanical, or a related field preferred.
