Job Description

The Demand Planning Specialist II role involves forecasting and inventory planning, with a focus on developing the end-to-end forecast by collaborating with Marketing and other departments. This position is essential for driving the inventory plan, ensuring inventory levels are monitored and managed effectively.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create demand forecasts based on historical data and inputs from sales, marketing, finance, and other analysts, considering factors such as seasonality and promotions.
  • Develop supply forecasts aligned with the demand plan, considering product transitions and non-warehouse inventory.
  • Oversee national inventory levels and collaborate with the deployment team to meet location targets.
  • Monitor daily reports to ensure forecasts and inventory levels meet targets, conducting root cause analysis as needed.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to create and execute inventory recovery plans.
  • Analyze slow and non-moving items, conducting root cause analysis to mitigate unhealthy inventory.
  • Partner with Product Life Cycle Analyst to manage transitioning and obsolete items, leading monthly scrap list development.
  • Provide insights on cash spend, risk inventory, and ad hoc requests.
  • Prepare and present information for inventory operations reviews and marketing collaboration meetings.
  • Drive continuous improvement in daily/weekly/monthly processes.
  • Guide the item master team on various item issues, focusing on product configurations and knowledge.

Required Experience:

  • Seven years of experience in the demand planning or forecasting field.

Required Education:

  • Four-year college degree.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Excel and Access.
  • Intermediate skills in other MS Office applications.
  • Six Sigma and APICS certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of Oracle and SQL programming languages is a plus.
  • Advanced understanding of demand planning software applications.

Working Conditions:

  • Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation.
  • Requires internal contact within the department and with corporate personnel, as well as external contact with customers and vendors.
  • Work involves a modest physical effort, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting objects weighing less than 20 lbs.
  • Regular application of basic skills, requiring moderate dexterity and coordination.
