Job Description
The Delivery & Install Driver is responsible for the efficient and safe pick-up, relocation, and delivery of office equipment. This position requires installation and networking of gear during delivery, as well as providing basic training on the devices. All federal DOT requirements must be met, and adherence to delivery safety standards is essential.
Primary Responsibilities
- Safely deliver equipment to the correct location.
- Maintain log books in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Conduct pre and post-trip reviews of vehicles to ensure safety and cleanliness.
- Perform product pick-up during deliveries to minimize costs.
- Provide basic connected installations (setting up IP addresses, downloading drivers, etc.) and offer customer training on printing devices.
- Participate in safety programs and pre-call customers as needed.
- Achieve expected productivity levels based on workload and experience.
- Demonstrate good technical and customer service skills.
- Identify customer needs and take appropriate action.
- Provide feedback on networking and installation initiatives.
- Complete technical training on new equipment.
- Maintain a professional appearance in uniform.
- Contact dispatch or service departments for technical assistance if needed.
- Ensure equipment is properly loaded, secured, and configured according to documentation.
- Capture electronic customer signatures upon completion of deliveries.
- Maintain accurate paperwork and process it accordingly.
- Assist in training new delivery drivers.
- Follow accident/incident reporting procedures.
- Conduct cycle counts and inventory reconciliation.
- Reconcile inventory at the end of each day based on route completion.
- Maintain responsibility for inventory valued up to $1,000,000.
- Overnight stays may be required.
- Operate warehouse equipment like forklifts, stair climbers, and pallet jacks.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Required Experience
- Safe driving record and history.
- Online technical training in networking and installation.
- On-the-job training with field technicians.
- Eligibility to drive a commercial vehicle according to FMCSR regulations.
- Minimum two years of medium-duty truck driving experience.
- Valid driver's license in accordance with company policy.
- Ability to pass a road test.
- Valid and current medical card.
- Ability to read maps and use electronic GPS.
- Be at least 20 years of age, properly licensed in his or her current state of residence.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Must maintain valid driver's license in accordance with company policy.
Working Conditions
- Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling required for servicing equipment.
- Physical effort needed to lift equipment up to 100 lbs and move equipment up to 1000 lbs.
- Work environment includes office, warehouse, and van/truck with adequate lighting, ventilation, and normal temperature and noise levels.
- Frequent exposure to chemical solvents and cleaners.
- Ability to work independently.
- Serious injury risk if safety lifting and moving procedures or road rules are not followed.
