Job Description

The Mechanic Heavy Equipment (Traveling) position is based in Kingman, AZ. The salary range is $8,726.19 per month, with an annual salary ranging from approximately $104,714 to $136,000, depending on hours worked and other factors. This position involves extensive travel across various locations, maintaining and repairing heavy equipment to ensure operational efficiency.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair BNSF’s fleet of equipment.
  • Disassemble, repair, modify, manufacture, overhaul, and troubleshoot equipment, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and fuel systems, as well as driveline components and final/planetary drive systems.
  • Operate equipment and use manual, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools, including welders and cutting torches, to perform necessary maintenance and repairs.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of two years verifiable mechanical work experience or training.
  • At least one year of verifiable training and/or experience working with gasoline and diesel engines on large, industrial equipment.
  • Three months minimum of verifiable training and/or experience with electrical and/or gas welding.
  • One year minimum of verifiable training and/or experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic diagrams, and schematics.
  • Ability to use hand tools to perform activities involving holding, grasping, turning, and pulling.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to work in diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, sleet).
  • Able to work on uneven surfaces, and around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.
  • 21 years of age or older  

Required Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess or be able to obtain a valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsements within 60 days of employment, with the potential for a Class A CDL if required.
  • Able to distinguish between colors (red, blue, green, yellow) and understand verbal and non-verbal signals and alarms.

Work Environment
The work environment involves safety-sensitive conditions. The role requires working in diverse and extreme weather conditions, walking and performing tasks on uneven surfaces, and being around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery. Safety regulations and protocols must be strictly followed at all times.
