Job Description
The Engineering Experienced First Line Supervisor (EFLS) at BNSF is a pivotal leadership role within the engineering team. This position is designed to accelerate your career through a 6-month training program and offers opportunities for hands-on experience in maintaining and improving the railway infrastructure. As an EFLS, you will oversee key aspects of track maintenance, construction, and safety operations. The annual salary for this position is $85,000, with travel and relocation required. The position operates in a 24x7 environment, subject to on-call, overtime, nights, alternating shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineers and managers to implement best practices in railway engineering.
- Inspect, maintain, repair, and construct track infrastructure, including rails, ties, and ballast.
- Participate in infrastructure projects focused on maintenance, construction, and innovation.
- Adhere to safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and environmental initiatives.
- Foster relationships with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
- Manage the daily operations in a diverse environment, adapting to extreme weather conditions and safety-sensitive areas.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of military and/or professional work experience supervising 5 or more employees.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role in a safety-sensitive environment.
- Proven ability to navigate and perform work in challenging outdoor conditions, including uneven surfaces and extreme weather.
- Does not require sponsorship to obtain, maintain, or extend authorization to work in the United States. (For example, H1-B Visa or STEM OPT)
- Legally authorized to work in the United States and will be at least eighteen (18) years old upon hire AND have a valid Driver's License or will have a valid Driver's License upon hire.

Work Environment:
This role is based in a safety-sensitive indoor/outdoor environment, where employees are exposed to diverse weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures, rain, snow, and sleet. The work involves walking on uneven surfaces, working around loud noises, fumes, and heavy or moving machinery.
