Job Description

Vestas is seeking a Wind Turbine Technician II to join our team. This full-time position offers a $2,500 USD / $3,300 CAD sign-on bonus as a token of appreciation for your expertise. If you have certifications in Basic Safety Training (BST), Basic Technical Training (BTT), and Advanced Rescue Training (ART) from the Global Wind Organization (GWO), you're already ahead! As a Wind Turbine Technician, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and installation work on wind turbines, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and contributing to the success of renewable wind energy projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and installation on wind turbines under minimal supervision.
  • Follow defined schedules and procedures, including safety protocols and verbal/written instructions.
  • Climb up to 250 feet to perform maintenance and repairs in various conditions.
  • Carry tools and equipment, and move parts to complete tasks.
  • Provide mentorship to entry-level technicians when necessary.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work.
  • Contribute suggestions for improving safety and quality within the team.

Required Experience:

  • At least 1 year of technical wind industry experience, OR
  • Six (6) months of technical wind industry experience plus completion of a wind technician program, OR
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, composite skills, or heavy machinery.
  • Experience using and understanding intermediate-level power tools, such as hydraulic, power torque, and diagnostic tools (e.g., Flukemeter functions and hydraulic pressure gauges).
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders while carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to navigate internet-based programs and interpret data.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work at heights (up to 250 feet).
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders and carry tools/equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and follow strict safety protocols.
