Job Description
Responsible for the scheduling and delivery of equipment to customers in a timely manner. Supervises 10 or more delivery personnel and/or multiple delivery locations. Ensures DOT and state law compliance. Manages the processes, people, and assets utilized in fulfilling customer orders for equipment including warehousing, delivery, and reverse logistics.
Primary Responsibilities
- Train delivery personnel in loading, unloading, and installation of equipment.
- Schedule and route delivery trucks daily according to customer requests.
- Communicate special needs and requests to delivery drivers.
- Ensure equipment is configured according to the pick ticket/sales order.
- Ensure all paperwork is processed accurately and completely.
- Communicate issues to the configuration center manager and transportation manager.
- Ensure the delivery fleet is safe to operate and compliant with DOT and state laws.
- Maintain delivery vehicles and develop preventive maintenance schedules.
- Schedule and communicate with third-party delivery companies.
- Ensure delivery times are met and correct equipment is shipped out.
- Responsible for safe and proper loading/receipt of equipment shipped to remote transfer centers and configuration centers.
- Assist in the creation of processes and procedures for operational success.
- Collaborate with inventory control to monitor inventory quality and levels.
- Perform and ensure timely performance evaluations.
- Work closely with other functional areas to meet external and internal customer needs.
- Manage transfer center expenses within budget guidelines.
- Establish and track performance measurements and manage to metric requirements.
- Responsible for the on-time delivery of equipment to customers.
- Identify customer needs and determine appropriate actions; refer calls when necessary.
- May require certification in the operation of warehouse equipment (forklift, stair climber, etc.).
- Effectively recruit, interview, and select staff.
- Coach, mentor, and guide staff on development and performance.
- Ensure compliance with equipment inventory policies within transfer centers.
- Demonstrate and promote a helpful, positive work culture.
- Build positive relationships and communicate effectively with coworkers and vendors.
- Adhere to Ricoh’s code of ethics.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Three to five years of supervisory and management experience in the transportation/delivery industry.
- General knowledge of computerized routing systems and handling hazardous materials.
- Good systems knowledge and computer skills.
- Familiarity with local carrier routes and standard trucking industry practices preferred.
- Eligibility to drive a commercial vehicle according to FMCSR regulations is a plus.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent education required.
Work Environment
- Typically an office environment with adequate lighting, ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise levels.
- Diversified work assignments requiring interpretation, comprehension, and application of complex material and data.
- Minimal physical effort; mostly sedentary but requires occasional walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying of objects typically less than 10 lbs.
- Regular application of basic skills such as calculator use, keyboarding, hand tools, and eye/hand coordination.
