Job Description

The Lab Pack Chemist II position at Clean Earth offers an exciting opportunity to work in the growing field of environmental sustainability. The company is offering a $5,000 sign-on bonus. Clean Earth provides waste solutions to a wide range of industries, including retail, healthcare, government, and manufacturing. This role involves handling hazardous materials, performing field services, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Primary Responsibilities

  • Handle hazardous materials, including inventorying, identifying, segregating, and packaging waste in accordance with Lab Pack policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Perform on-site services such as waste collection, consolidation, sampling, safety/compliance inspections, and other customer-required activities.
  • Assist other business groups such as Depack, Retail, and HHW as needed.
  • Prepare shipments by inspecting, labeling, marking, and loading packaged waste for transport.
  • Complete required documentation, including shipping papers, Land Disposal Restrictions (LDRs), and evaluations/certifications.
  • Maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Hazmat Endorsement for transporting personnel and waste.
  • Follow Health & Safety protocols and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures, including creating on-site Health & Safety plans.
  • Perform unknown field testing for classification and packaging for transportation and disposal.
  • Mentor and assist new employees in field duties.
  • Conduct site walks for inventory and assess project requirements.
  • Assist sales teams in creating estimates for lab pack work.
  • Lead and coordinate lab pack projects requiring multiple personnel/days.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year of lab pack experience.
  • Experience with EPA and DOT regulations.
  • Ability to lift and move materials exceeding 55 lbs frequently.
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
  • 40 hours of Depack experience.
  • 8 hours of DOT training.
  • PPE training, including respirator use.

Required Education

  • Associate's degree in General Science or equivalent experience.
