Job Description
Join BNSF Railway’s Track Maintenance Team as part of the Engineering Department. This full-time role offers a competitive salary range of approximately $34.90 - $38.89 per hour, with the possibility of overtime and on-call shifts. As a vital member of the team, you will contribute to the construction, inspection, and repair of railroad tracks and infrastructure, supporting the transportation of essential goods across the country. This is a safety-sensitive position with company-paid training, and you will be required to travel to various job sites.
Primary Responsibilities
- Track Maintenance, Repair, and Installation: Repair and rebuild railroad tracks, remove spikes, cut, weld, or drill rail. Maintain a clean right-of-way by removing hazards like brush, trees, and litter.
- Track-bed Maintenance: Manually compress ballast, remove/install ties, and replace, cut, and adjust rail. Assist in lifting and carrying materials.
- Operate Equipment: Utilize power hand tools (electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic) and non-powered hand tools for daily tasks.
- Truck Driver and Maintenance: Operate 26K+ lb trucks, ensuring proper maintenance and record-keeping.
- Welder Duties: Weld, grind, and cut rail, following BNSF welding procedures. Maintain welding records and safely operate welding trucks.
- Safety and Compliance: Work in diverse weather conditions, adhere to safety regulations, and wear required personal protective equipment.
Required Experience
- At least 18 years of age or will be by the anticipated start date
- Ability to work safely in a variety of weather conditions and physical environments
- Experience with heavy equipment operation or similar manual labor is a plus
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to operate 26K+ lb trucks
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs occasionally
- Ability to distinguish colors (red, blue, green, yellow) and discern verbal and non-verbal sounds (signals, alarms, etc.)
