Job Description

As a Steel Press Operator, you will perform die changeovers and setups while operating single-stroke mechanical presses (70 tons and up) to blank and punch form parts. This role requires attention to detail and adherence to safety policies to ensure the production of high-quality parts. 

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Read, communicate, and understand Operational Method Sheets (OMS) job instructions. 
  • Handle materials to and from the workstation and prepare the workstation and equipment for production. 
  • Operate the press to punch and form parts according to specifications. 
  • Perform die changeovers and select the correct materials for production runs. 
  • Problem-solve setup-related issues and seek support to correct any tool-related problems. 
  • Adjust and tighten hold-down bolts, dies, springs, and pins as needed. 
  • Lubricate materials and parts as required. 
  • Complete all assigned paperwork and maintain compliance with quality checks, including first and last part inspections. 
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workstation and report any work shortages. 
  • Perform rework as necessary. 

 

Required Experience: 

  • Previous experience operating mechanical presses. 
  • Knowledge of die changeovers and setups. 

 

Required Education: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 

 

Working Conditions: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. Occasional exposure to outside weather conditions is expected. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. 
  • The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 
  • Employees must be knowledgeable of and follow all company safety policies.
