Job Description

As a Tool Maker, you will be responsible for crafting tools and metal forms for stamping and forging operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review samples and drawings, and operate scanning equipment to create models.
  • Setup and operate machine shop equipment such as manual milling machines, lathes, saws, and surface grinders.
  • Take measurements and mark material for cutting.
  • Select appropriate machines and position or load material for a job.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.
  • Operate various power tools and manual inspection tools.
  • Fabricate precision tooling and prototype parts using blueprints and sketches.
  • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on sheet metal stamping dies (progression, single hit, and form dies).
  • Responsible for final assembly and fitting fabricated components.
  • Operate CNC machinery in the fabrication of tooling and prototype parts.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to safety protocols and best practices.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends when needed.
  • Collaborate effectively in a team setting towards a common goal.

Required Experience

  • Understanding and ability to use precision measuring equipment such as height gauges and gauge pins.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • General shop math skills for print conversion and basic geometry.
  • Reading and interpreting quality documents and customer specifications.
  • Previous tool building experience or use of a laser tracker.
  • Relevant experience with metal fabrication.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Required Education

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Requirements

  • 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Mechanically skilled.
