Job Description & Requirements

Counter Sales Representative — starting pay $15.00 – $24.94 per hour (plus hourly bonus eligibility). Serves walk‑in and phone customers at a Ferguson branch, providing product expertise, processing orders, and maintaining a well‑merchandised counter area.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Greet contractors and homeowners; recommend products that best meet project requirements

  • Enter, track, and complete orders in Ferguson’s order‑management system

  • Operate cash register/POS; follow established cash‑handling and accounting procedures

  • Pick, stage, and load customer pick‑up orders; help restock counter and showroom shelves

  • Keep counter and merchandising displays clean, organized, and aligned with company standards

  • Follow all safety rules, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Required Experience

  • Prior customer‑service experience (counter sales, retail, or call‑center) preferred

  • Warehouse material‑handling experience and/or basic HVAC product knowledge a plus

  • General computer literacy (Microsoft Office and POS/order‑entry systems) required

  • Ability to lift, load, and move merchandise; sound basic math skills for cash handling

  • Valid state driver’s license; must be at least 18 years old

  • Pre‑employment drug screen and background check required

Required Education

  • High‑school diploma or GED (or equivalent knowledge/skills)
