Join BNSF Railway as a Track Maintenance Laborer in Alliance, Nebraska (District 400) and become part of a team that values safety, diversity, and excellence. The starting pay rate for this position is approximately $34.90 per hour. This is a full-time (40hrs/week) position, subject to on-call, overtime, nights, alternating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Training for this role is company-paid, including both on-the-job and classroom instruction.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform track maintenance repair and installation, including repairing and rebuilding railroad track, pulling spikes, cutting, welding, and drilling rail.
• Maintain a clean right of way by removing hazards such as brush, trees, vegetation, litter, and cargo spillage.
• Maintain trackbed, including compressing ballast, removing/installing ties, and adjusting rail.
• Operate power hand tools (electric, pneumatic, hydraulic), as well as non-powered hand tools (shovels, picks, saws, grinders).
• Perform physical labor, including lifting and carrying materials with assistance.
• Work in a safety-sensitive environment, adhering to safety regulations, rules, and policies.

Required Experience:

• Must be able to work safely in diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, sleet).
• Ability to perform work on uneven surfaces, and work around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.
• Must meet physical demands, including lifting up to 60 lbs occasionally and performing activities involving hands (grasping, turning, pulling).
• Possess a valid state-issued driver’s license.
• At least 18 years of age. 

Work Environment:

• Work will be conducted in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and precipitation. Daily activities include walking, working on uneven surfaces, and handling loud noises and fumes. The work environment also involves heavy and moving machinery.
