Job Description & Requirements

The Printer Technician is responsible for the daily support, service, repair, and availability of RICOH-managed devices within a specified geographic area. This role involves responding to service requests and technical alerts, performing preventative maintenance, device setup and installation, and ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met. Supported device types include printers, multifunctional devices, and other assets as part of RICOH’s Service Advantage program (e.g., thermal print, lockers, robots). Technicians will document service activity using RICOH and customer systems and may travel within a designated geographic area.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to service and supply alerts to meet SLA requirements.

  • Perform servicing, diagnostics, installation, and repairs including part replacement and device swaps.

  • Utilize remote support to minimize dispatches and escalate issues as needed.

  • Set up devices, configure IP addresses, install drivers, and provide customer training.

  • Document all service activities accurately in required systems.

  • Replace consumables and maintain inventory of parts and supplies.

  • Adhere to IMACD processes and safety protocols.

  • Provide timely updates to customers and service managers regarding fleet status.

  • Complete technical training on new equipment and support training initiatives.

  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor while managing multiple customer interactions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • IT Help Desk Support experience (application and hardware support) preferred.

  • Experience with computers, electronics, mechanics, or similar technical skills desired.

  • Working knowledge of electro-mechanical devices, electronics, and digital competency is required.

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional technical education preferred.

  • Valid driver’s license and minimum auto insurance coverage as per company policy (frequent car use required).

Work Environment

  • Primarily office environments with adequate lighting and ventilation.

  • Extensive daily travel by car or foot depending on territory.

  • Exposure to minor cuts, burns, chemical solvents, and cleaners.

  • Shift work, overtime, stand-by, and on-call duties may be required.

  • Daily contact with service call centers, parts departments, and field managers.

  • Requires frequent interaction with customers, often under stressful conditions.

  • Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs, moving wheeled equipment up to 400 lbs, and frequent stooping, bending, and kneeling.

  • Use of various hand tools requiring a high level of dexterity for servicing electronic and mechanical components.
