Job Description & Requirements

The Tooling Repair Technician II is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability within the Tooling Repair department, including new tooling, existing tooling, and equipment sent to the field for various projects. Duties include maintenance of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, pumping, and hoist/crane systems. This position offers a salary range of $22.50-$29 per hour.

Primary Responsibilities:
Level 1

  • Assess risk and verify the functionality of equipment released to production.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on tooling equipment and specialty tools.
  • Install machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment; test unit operation to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Safely manage hazardous waste in satellite accumulation areas.
  • Handle hazardous materials, understanding their risks, and comply with state and federal regulations for their storage, transport, and disposal.
  • Perform other assigned duties.

Level 2

  • Study blueprints, manuals, and drawings to determine required repairs, parts, fabrication, new equipment installations, and setup requirements.
  • Read and understand mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic prints and symbols.
  • Set up and operate machines to verify accuracy of settings or programmed control data.
  • Communicate with warehouse and shipping for the transport of hazardous materials according to strict regulations.

Level 3

  • Troubleshoot under tense situations, demonstrating ability to repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Operate welding equipment (MIG, TIG, stick welding, including aluminum).
  • Develop specifications from descriptions and draw sketches of fabricated parts.
  • Work with engineers, production personnel, contractors, and vendors to resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure equipment is documented in SAP, and Preventative Maintenance Plans are in place. Help define spare parts for equipment.

Required Experience:

  • 1-3 years on-the-job or related experience is preferable.
  • System skills in Microsoft Office, ERP/MRP systems, and SAP.
  • Ability to work safely and create a safe work area.
  • Strong teamwork, adaptability, and desire to learn new skills.
  • Good understanding of LEAN practices and principles.
  • Must be able to operate forklifts and material handlers (certification may be required).

  • High school diploma or GED required.
