Job Description & Requirements
The Tooling Technician II is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the proper functioning of tooling equipment within the Tooling Repair department. This role supports both new tooling and existing tooling equipment, with a focus on safety, reliability, and minimizing equipment shortages. The technician will handle various systems such as electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and hoists/crane systems. This position offers a salary range of $22.50 - $29.71 per hour.
Primary Responsibilities
Level 1
- Assess risk and verify functionality of equipment released to production.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on tooling equipment and specialty tools.
- Install machined replacement parts and test the operation to ensure performance.
- Safely handle and generate hazardous waste in satellite accumulation areas.
- Comply with state and federal hazardous materials and waste regulations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Level 2 (Includes Level 1)
- Study blueprints, sketches, manuals, and specifications for repairs, parts, fabrication, and equipment setup.
- Interpret mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic prints and symbols.
- Set up and operate machinery on trial runs to verify machine accuracy.
- Communicate hazardous material transport as per regulatory requirements.
Level 3 (Includes Levels 1 & 2)
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Operate welding equipment for cutting and welding parts (MIG, TIG, Stick welding).
- Develop specifications and sketches for part fabrication.
- Collaborate with engineers, production staff, and vendors to resolve technical issues.
- Ensure equipment documentation in SAP and establish Preventative Maintenance Plans.
Required Experience
- 1-3 years of relevant on-the-job experience or equivalent.
- Strong mechanical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
- Experience with welding and using various hand tools and equipment.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, particularly SAP.
- Knowledge of LEAN practices and safety protocols.
Required Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
Work Environment
- Occasional exposure to toxic or corrosive chemicals.
- Moderate noise levels in the work environment.
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting, climbing, bending, and reaching.
- Operation of vehicles and plant equipment.
