Job Description & Requirements
As a Track Maintenance Laborer at BNSF, you will play a crucial role in constructing, inspecting, and repairing tracks and maintaining our railway corridors. This is a full-time position (40 hours/week) requiring on-call availability, overtime, and work during nights, weekends, and holidays. Travel to job sites for extended periods may be required. Training will be provided through company-paid on-the-job and classroom instruction.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Repair and install railroad track, including pulling spikes, cutting, welding, or drilling rail.
- Maintain trackbed by compressing ballast, replacing ties, and adjusting rails.
- Operate power hand tools and non-powered hand tools, including drills, impact wrenches, jacks, power saws, and grinders.
- Maintain clean right-of-way by removing brush, trees, vegetation, and debris.
- Follow safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment.
Required Experience:
- Ability to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
- Experience or ability to operate tools and equipment safely in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. occasionally.
- Ability to work in safety-sensitive environments with diverse and extreme weather conditions.
- Must be at least 18 years old by the anticipated start date.
- Possess a valid state-issued driver’s license.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Work Environment:
This position is based in a safety-sensitive environment, where employees work in extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet), on uneven surfaces, and around heavy/moving machinery.
