Job Description & Requirements

As a Vehicle Technician at Alstom in Camden, NJ, you will apply your mechanical/electrical expertise in the cutting-edge field of Light Rail technology. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving malfunctions in various systems such as mechanical, electrical, electronic, propulsion, communications, pneumatics, and HVAC. Additionally, you will manage work orders, perform repairs, and ensure that equipment systems meet operational standards.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and resolve malfunctions in mechanical, electrical, electronic, propulsion, communications, pneumatics, and HVAC systems.
  • Read blueprints and schematics to determine necessary repairs.
  • Utilize manual and power tools, as well as diagnostic equipment (multi-meters, digital volt meters).
  • Operate Light Rail Vehicles to move rail equipment as part of the team.
  • Manage work orders using an asset management database.

Required Experience:

  • Experience interpreting blueprints.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, communications, pneumatics, and propulsion systems.
  • Familiarity with Windows software and Microsoft Office Suite applications (e.g., Outlook).

Required Education:

  • High School diploma or GED, though an Associate’s Degree from a technical college is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (free from alcohol or substance abuse-related moving violations within the past 36 months).
  • Ability to obtain Qualified Maintenance Person (QMP) designation and meet regulatory medical qualifications for the Maintenance Facility Engineer and Maintenance Facility Conductor.
