Job Description & Requirements
The Delivery & Install Driver is responsible for the efficient and quality pick-up, relocation, and delivery of office equipment in a safe manner. This role may also include installation and networking of gear. The driver's professionalism is essential in impacting future customer decisions. Responsibilities include meeting all federal DOT requirements and ensuring all delivery safety standards are followed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Safely deliver equipment to the correct location.
- Maintain logbooks in accordance with DOT regulations (electronic or manual).
- Conduct pre and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and state laws.
- Perform pick-up and delivery of equipment to minimize costs.
- Set up basic connected installations, including IP address configurations, print driver installations, and customer training.
- Participate in safety programs and pre-call customers when applicable.
- Achieve expected productivity levels based on workload and experience.
- Demonstrate strong technical and customer relation skills.
- Provide feedback on networking and installation initiatives.
- Complete technical training for new equipment as required.
- Maintain professional appearance in driver uniform.
- Report issues to the Dispatch and/or service department when necessary.
- Ensure equipment is properly loaded, secured, and meets documentation requirements.
- Use phone to capture customer signatures upon completion.
- Ensure all necessary paperwork is signed and processed.
- Assist in training new drivers and provide operational support.
- Follow accident/incident reporting guidelines and procedures.
- Perform cycle counts and inventory reconciliation when required.
- Responsible for inventory valued up to $1,000,000.
- Overnight stays may be required.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of two years of medium-duty truck driving experience.
- Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles according to FMCSR regulations.
- Must pass a road test.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license in accordance with company policy.
- Previous on-the-job training with field technicians is a plus.
- Experience handling oversized and overweight equipment.
- Familiarity with smartphones, tablets, and basic computer skills.
- Ability to read maps and use GPS systems.
- Valid commercial driver's license (as applicable per state).
- Valid and current medical card.
- Be at least 20 years of age, properly licensed in his or her current state of residence.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Working Conditions:
- Work involves frequent lifting of equipment weighing up to 100 pounds and occasionally up to 1,000 pounds.
- Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and kneeling to service equipment.
- Work environments include office, warehouse, and van/truck settings with normal lighting, ventilation, temperature, and noise levels.
- Exposure to chemical solvents and cleaners is frequent.
- Ability to work independently is required.
