Job Description & Requirements

The Residential Install Technician is an entry-level, trainee position responsible for broadband installation and troubleshooting. This role involves a progressive learning path with increasing independence over time. Employment is contingent on the successful completion of required training, certifications, and adherence to safety protocols.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform installations and changes of service, following safety standards, codes, and company procedures.

  • Update customer accounts to reflect accurate service records.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve product or service issues through sound judgment and decision-making.

  • Educate customers on Comcast’s products and services to improve customer experience.

  • Use tools and perform jobs at heights (e.g., on poles and roofs), including climbing ladders and operating bucket trucks.

  • Handle and manipulate connectors, wires, and hand tools.

  • Lift and carry loads of 70 lbs. or more, work in confined spaces (e.g., attics, crawlspaces), and operate near electrical lines.

  • Drive a company vehicle in a safe and responsible manner, maintaining equipment and complying with licensing requirements.

  • Maintain close and peripheral vision to operate tools and complete installations.

  • Work may include 10-hour shifts, weekends, evenings, holidays, and overtime.

  • Operate in environments with moderate noise, animals, and construction.

  • Participate in and complete training in safety, installations, and company-specific procedures.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • 0–2 years of related experience.

Required Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

Work Environment

  • Physical role involving lifting, bending, standing for long periods, and working in elevated or confined spaces.

  • Exposure to moderate noise, pets, and inclement weather conditions.

  • Variable work schedule including weekends, holidays, evenings, and 10-hour shifts.
