Job Description & Requirements

Ferguson is seeking a Route Planner to efficiently plan daily truckload shipments from distribution centers to branches and customers, optimize transportation costs, and support operational improvements.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Plan daily truckload shipments from Ferguson distribution centers to branches and customers.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce transportation costs through freight consolidation, back-haul, or schedule changes.

  • Communicate transportation delays caused by system challenges, weather, or other obstacles to customers and distribution centers.

  • Support the Supply Chain Disaster Plan during weather emergencies that disrupt transportation.

  • Review and evaluate operational procedures, updating them in collaboration with management.

  • Coordinate route plans and delivery requirements with fleet teams and drivers.

  • Track and organize truck maintenance and maintain compliance with DOT, IFTA, and company regulations.

  • Adhere to Company compliance and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies.

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance; perform other duties as assigned.


Schedule: Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm

Required Experience

  • 1–4 years of route planning or delivery driving experience.

  • Strong interpersonal, phone, and written communication skills.

  • Ability to multitask using various media and creatively solve problems.

  • Comfort working in a dynamic operational environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Outlook and Excel; functional ability with MS Word and Access.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize daily activities and work independently or in a cross-functional team.

  • Adaptable and flexible to rapid change and ambiguity.
