Job Description & Requirements
The Supervisor I, Delivery & Install is responsible for the timely scheduling and delivery of equipment to customers, overseeing 10 or more delivery personnel and multiple delivery locations. This role ensures compliance with DOT and state regulations while managing the processes, personnel, and assets used in fulfilling customer orders. Responsibilities also include overseeing warehousing, delivery, and reverse logistics.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Train delivery personnel in loading, unloading, and equipment installation.
- Schedule and route delivery trucks according to customer requests.
- Communicate special needs and requests to delivery drivers.
- Ensure equipment is configured according to pick tickets/sales orders.
- Process all paperwork accurately.
- Report issues to the configuration center or transportation manager.
- Ensure delivery fleet safety and compliance with DOT and state laws.
- Maintain delivery vehicles and develop preventive maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate with third-party delivery companies.
- Ensure on-time delivery of equipment and accuracy of shipments.
- Oversee safe loading/receipt of equipment for transfer center locations.
- Assist in creating operational processes and procedures.
- Work with inventory control to monitor and maintain inventory levels.
- Conduct performance evaluations in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other departments to meet customer needs.
- Manage transfer center expenses in accordance with budget guidelines.
- Establish performance metrics within the transfer center.
- Identify customer needs and refer calls appropriately.
- Obtain certification for warehouse equipment like forklifts and stair climbers.
- Recruit, interview, and select staff; provide coaching and development.
- Ensure compliance with inventory policies within transfer centers.
- Foster a positive work culture.
- Build relationships and communicate effectively with coworkers and vendors.
- Conduct oneself according to Ricoh's code of ethics.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
- Three to five years of supervisory and management experience in the transportation/delivery industry required.
- General knowledge of computerized routing systems and handling hazardous materials required.
- Good systems knowledge and computer skills required.
- Familiarity with local carrier routes and standard trucking industry practices preferred.
- Eligibility to drive a commercial vehicle according to FMCSR regulations is a plus.
Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Working Conditions:
- Typically an office environment with adequate lighting, ventilation, and a normal range of temperature and noise levels.
- Diversified work requiring interpretation, comprehension, and application of complex material and data.
- Minimal physical effort required; work is mostly sedentary but may involve walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting objects typically weighing less than 10 lbs.
- Moderate dexterity for regular use of basic skills (e.g., calculator, keyboard, hand tools).
