Job Description & Requirements

The C Arc Welder at Alstom is responsible for performing all welding operations for rail vehicle manufacturing. The position offers a pay rate of $25.75/hour USD.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform all welding operations, including GMAW, GTAW, and Resistance Spot Welding.
  • Set up welding machines with minimal supervision.
  • Read blueprints and work instructions; set up jigs and fixtures, comprehend welding symbols and sequences.
  • Safely use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Maintain compliance with Alstom's Zero Deviation Procedures and EHS regulations.
  • Weld different types of materials (e.g., carbon steel, stainless steel) and pass Level C welder evaluation tests.
  • Communicate effectively with supervision and departments regarding design or material changes.
  • Adapt to different work assignments and maintain a clean working environment.
  • Assist in new process development and troubleshooting of products.
  • Utilize digital technology in daily responsibilities.
  • Obtain or possess external certifications (AWS/ANST or equivalent).
  • Inspect welded joints per acceptance criteria and perform dimensional measurements.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in additional welding processes (e.g., SMAW, FCAW) and post-weld finishing technologies.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor/manager.

Required Experience:

  • 2-5 years of relevant welding experience.
  • Technical competencies in automatic/hand operated burning equipment, welding processes, blueprints, and hand/power tools.
  • Ability to follow instructions with strong attention to detail.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or a 2-year vocational degree or equivalent welding certificate with experience.
