Job Description & Requirements

This entry-level technician position is designed to service and repair a variety of company products. The Field Representative I is responsible for tasks such as setup, tagging, installation, preventative maintenance, and routine servicing of small printers, low-end segment devices, and facsimile devices at customer locations. The position involves managing territory, inventory, and customer relationships, and driving revenue-generating opportunities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Achieves expected productivity levels associated with assigned workload and experience.
  • Manages territory, inventory, and customer relationships effectively.
  • Demonstrates technical expertise by performing diagnostics, installations, and repairs on assigned equipment.
  • Performs basic connected installations, sets up IP addresses, downloads printer drivers, and provides customer training on devices.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs or replaces equipment components as necessary.
  • Completes technical training on new equipment as assigned.
  • Executes territory management and call handling procedures.
  • Works closely with sales partners to maximize equipment leads and upgrade opportunities.
  • Maintains own parts inventory with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Completes administrative tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Complies with all company policies and standards.
  • Interacts with external customers to assess service needs and ensure satisfaction.
  • Exhibits professional demeanor and maintains productive relationships with company personnel.
  • Responsible for maintaining a "car stock" inventory.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

  • Some working knowledge of electro-mechanical devices, electrical circuitry, electronics, and varying levels of digital competency.
  • Previous experience in computer, electronics, or mechanical fields is desirable.
  • Requires a valid state driver's license and minimum level of auto insurance coverage for extensive use of a personal car.
  • A valid state driver's license and minimum level of auto insurance coverage per company policy for position entails extensive use of personal car while on company business.

Required Education:

  • High school diploma required. Completed classes or experience involving computers, electronics, mechanics, or similar fields is desired.

Working Conditions:

  • Typical office environment with adequate lighting, ventilation, and normal temperature and noise levels.
  • Extensive daily travel by automobile and, in some cases, by foot within a designated geographic area.
  • Exposure to minor cuts, burns, and frequent use of chemical solvents and cleaners.
  • Shift work, overtime, stand-by, and/or on-call duties may be required.
  • Daily contact with the service call center and parts department.
  • Regular direct contact with customers (office/IT managers and machine operators) to resolve equipment issues.
  • Physical demands include moving objects weighing up to 400 pounds, bending, squatting, kneeling, and carrying tools weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires high dexterity for using hand tools and working on small electronic and mechanical components.
