Job Description & Requirements
The Delivery & Install Driver is responsible for the efficient and quality pick-up, relocation, and delivery of office equipment in a safe manner. The position may require the installation and networking of gear during the delivery process. A focus on professionalism and quality service is crucial, as it directly impacts customer satisfaction and future purchasing decisions. Basic customer training on the delivered devices may be necessary. The position requires compliance with federal DOT requirements and delivery safety standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Safely deliver equipment to the correct location.
- Maintain log books in accordance with DOT regulations (electronic or manual).
- Perform pre and post-trip reviews to ensure vehicle safety and cleanliness.
- Complete product pick-ups to minimize costs.
- Perform basic installations such as setting up IP addresses, downloading print drivers, removing hard drives when necessary, and providing basic customer training on devices.
- Participate in safety programs.
- Pre-call customers when applicable.
- Meet expected productivity levels based on assigned workload and experience.
- Demonstrate good technical and customer relation skills.
- Identify customer needs and determine appropriate actions.
- Provide feedback on networking and installation processes.
- Ensure all equipment is configured according to provided documentation.
- Use phone to capture customer signatures and complete required paperwork.
- Help train new drivers on new products and proper loading techniques.
- Follow accident/incident reporting procedures.
- Perform cycle counts and inventory reconciliation.
- Responsible for inventory valued up to $1,000,000.
- Overnight stays may be required.
- Operate and use warehouse equipment such as forklifts, stair climbers, and pallet jacks.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Safe driving record and history.
- Minimum two years of medium-duty truck driving experience.
- Experience with on-the-job training for networking and installation.
- Familiarity with electronic GPS and maps.
- Ability to physically handle oversized and overweight equipment.
- Strong customer presentation and communication skills.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with smartphones/tablets for capturing customer signatures.
- Valid commercial driver's license (if applicable per state).
- Valid and current medical card.
- Be at least 20 years of age, properly licensed in his or her current state of residence.
Required Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Working Conditions
- Physical effort is required in lifting equipment weighing up to 100 pounds, with occasional equipment weighing up to 1000 pounds.
- Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling to service equipment.
- Exposure to chemical solvents and cleaners.
- Work in a variety of conditions, including office, warehouse, and vehicle environments.
- Independent work required.
