Job Description & Requirements

Join Alstom as a Plant Tradesperson (Facility Technician) in Jamaica, NY, and play a key role in maintaining and repairing critical facility systems. This shift position supports a 24/7 operation, with responsibilities spanning HVAC, lighting, sprinklers, fire suppression, and general building maintenance.
Hourly Rate: $28.52

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance in stations, substations, and maintenance/storage facilities, including repair of buildings, sprinklers, air conditioning, heating, and fire suppression systems.
  • Interpret maintenance manuals, electrical schematics, and drawings to perform necessary repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair faults using appropriate test equipment and safe work practices.
  • Accurately document time, materials, and completed work orders using MAXIMO.
  • Work independently, under supervision, and alongside contractors to complete tasks.
  • Utilize hand tools, electrical tools, and interpret blueprints/schematics to execute repair and maintenance tasks.

Required Experience

  • Formal training in one or more building trades, such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, or plumbing.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Applications and Windows Operating Applications.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, and company vehicles.

Required Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Work Environment / Working Conditions

  • Subject to random alcohol and drug testing.
  • Must pass a 10-year Homeland Security background check.
  • Must hold a valid, unexpired driver’s license in accordance with NY State Motor Vehicle regulations.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
