Job Description & Requirements

The Brazer I position involves welding and testing tasks under the direction of a supervisor to ensure conformance to specifications and production standards. The primary responsibility is brazing copper materials using a filler material with a gas torch. A key focus is on safety awareness, quality assurance, teamwork, and continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment. The position requires the ability to work in an industrial/manufacturing setting and demands flexibility, attention to detail, and a commitment to meeting customer expectations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Perform brazing using a gas torch to weld copper and other materials together with a filler material. Follow detailed work instructions, procedures, and safety protocols to meet customer specifications.
  2. Demonstrate safety awareness by ensuring personal and team safety, adhering to safety regulations, and maintaining a clean, organized work area.
  3. Perform first article inspections and report defective materials or conditions to supervisors.
  4. Work collaboratively with other departments and team members to meet production goals and customer expectations.
  5. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by managing time efficiently and troubleshooting to improve production processes.
  6. Be flexible in availability to work overtime, shift changes, or cross-train in other areas of the department.
  7. Use software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, ERP systems) to assist with production tasks such as looking up orders and tracking inventory.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions, work under supervision, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and handling materials in an industrial environment.

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a craft apprenticeship or an equivalent number of years of education.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  1. Ability to work in a noisy, dusty, industrial environment, with exposure to non-toxic fumes, chemicals, and oils.
  2. Ability to operate machinery, moving parts, cranes, and motor vehicles.
  3. Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and with ladders and scaffolding.
  4. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs regularly, and occasionally up to 50 lbs, with frequent lifting of up to 40 lbs.
  5. Ability to stand or walk for extended periods on hard concrete surfaces, and perform repetitive motions.
  6. Exposure to bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, climbing, stretching, and other similar activities.
  7. Ability to communicate in English, including reading and interpreting safety rules and operating instructions.
