Job Description & Requirements
The Personal Banker serves as a problem solver, trusted advisor, and partner to clients and businesses in the KeyBank community. This role engages clients through in-person and proactive calling efforts, uncovering needs and providing tailored financial wellness solutions. The position is sales-driven and client-focused, requiring strong teamwork, communication, and relationship-building skills. Compensation includes a base hourly rate of $20.19 to $30.77, depending on experience and location, plus short-term incentive compensation based on individual and company performance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Deliver a strong client experience by actively engaging with clients and teammates.
- Uncover financial wellness opportunities during conversations and provide tailored solutions.
- Open personal and business accounts, including checking, savings, loans, and CDs.
- Build strong partnerships with teammates and business partners to acquire and deepen client relationships.
- Ensure compliance with risk, security, and audit policies while documenting client interactions.
- Support branch operations and assist with teller transactions as needed.
- Participate in team huddles and debriefs, contributing to a collaborative branch environment.
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year in sales or customer relationship development, with proven ability to achieve goals.
- Knowledge of consumer credit, including loan-to-value, debt-to-income, and credit reports.
- Familiarity with sales and service techniques, including tele-consulting, networking, and prospecting.
- Experience influencing business partners and leveraging centers of influence.
- Proficiency with PCs (MS Office) and digital banking technology.
- Comfortable working with small business clients; overcoming objections and fact-finding (preferred).
- Notary license (preferred).
Required Education
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent business experience (required).
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).
Work Environment / Working Conditions
- Prolonged standing (5–8 hours daily), frequent hand use, face-to-face and phone communication with clients.
- Occasional bending and lifting (up to 30 lbs.); frequent lifting of smaller items (1–10 lbs.).
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle routinely with a valid driver’s license.
