Job Description & Requirements
Join BNSF Railway as a Track Maintenance Laborer in Mullen, NE. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position with a starting pay rate of approximately $34.90 per hour. The position requires availability for on-call, overtime, nights, alternating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Travel to job sites within the designated seniority region is required, with extended stays at locations sometimes lasting days or weeks. This position comes with company-paid training, including on-the-job and classroom instruction at the BNSF Training Center.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform track maintenance, including repair and installation of railroad tracks.
- Engage in tasks such as pulling spikes, cutting, welding, or drilling rail.
- Maintain the right of way by removing hazards such as brush, trees, vegetation, litter, and cargo spillage.
- Maintain trackbed by manually compressing ballast and replacing/installing ties.
- Operate hand and power tools, including electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools.
- Ensure a safe work environment by adhering to all safety regulations and protocols.
- Engage in daily safety conversations and comply with safety equipment usage.
Required Experience:
- No specific prior experience required; on-the-job training will be provided.
- Ability to work safely in diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, sleet).
- Comfortable working in safety-sensitive environments with loud noise, fumes, and heavy machinery.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license is required.
- At least 18 years of age
