Job Description & Requirements
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for assembling and testing wire harness assemblies and ground cables within the Work Center Cable Shop. Additional responsibilities include performing equipment repairs using manual and power tools, conducting automated and manual testing, adhering to all safety requirements, and supporting supervisors in equipment operations and reporting through MS Office and SAP.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assemble, validate, repair, and test wire harness assemblies and ground cables.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Operate test equipment and use precision measuring devices (digital multimeter, megger).
- Safely operate power tools (drills, cable cutters, crimpers, pneumatic tools) and hand tools (wire crimpers, strippers, screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, etc.).
- Assist in operating and maintaining bench test equipment.
- Cross-train in other departments (HVAC, high voltage, electromechanical, or electronics equipment) as workload requires.
- Follow all safety procedures and proper use of PPE in the Technical Work Center and New Castle Facility.
- Communicate effectively and prepare reports/product analysis using MS Office and SAP.
Required Experience
- Mandatory: Ability to read and interpret schematics/blueprints.
- Desirable:
- Knowledge of rolling stock maintenance.
- Experience with safety management systems and safety risk assessment.
- Understanding of electronic principles, circuit design, and testing procedures.
Required Education
- High School Diploma required.
- Vocational/Technical school graduate, military training, or minimum 2 years of related technical experience preferred.
Work Environment
- Shop and warehouse environment.
- Work includes assembly, testing, and repair using both manual and power tools.
- Requires adherence to safety standards and use of PPE.
