Job Description & Requirements
Ferguson is seeking a Manual Machinist to join the team at their Norfolk, VA Pump Repair Facility. This position follows a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with overtime as needed. Pay range is $19.47 – $42.31/hour, and the role is bonus or incentive plan eligible.
Primary Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain machines in the shop for pump fabrication.
- Accurately measure, record, and draw pump components using tools like Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, and indicators.
- Read and analyze design drawings, work orders, and production schedules.
- Operate manual machining equipment such as VTLs, horizontal boring machines, and lathes.
- Assist with teardown and assembly of pumps when machining is not required.
- Adhere to safety procedures related to fabrication, cutting, assembling, and handling of parts.
- Operate powered industrial equipment in compliance with OSHA and company guidelines.
- May perform driving duties as needed.
Required Experience
- Inside machinist experience is required.
- Welding experience is a plus.
- Ability to work independently when building tools or fixtures for production.
- Strong communication and conceptual skills.
- Ability to remain results-focused in a fast-paced environment.
Required Education
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license required.
Work Environment
- Shop-based work involving the operation of manual machining equipment.
- May include physical activity related to teardown, assembly, and equipment operation.
- Overtime may be required.
