The Welder B position at Acuity Brands involves welding, fabricating, and assembling aluminum products using handheld welding equipment. This is a full-time, first-shift position with hours from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with some overtime required. The compensation for this position is $24.50 per hour.

Primary Responsibilities

• Follow all Acuity/Alight safety programs and requirements
• Adhere to the production schedule
• Read, assemble, and weld from blueprints
• Prepare, assemble, and tack weld parts and surfaces
• Monitor welding, burning, and fitting processes to prevent warping, distortion, or damage
• Perform GMAW/MIG Spray Transfer welding (up to 250 Amp, 32 Volt, 400 IPM wire speed)
• Weld 1G, 2G, and 3G positions daily
• Use .045 - .052 metal core wire with 90/10 gas
• Grind and wire-wheel products to prepare smooth surfaces for painting
• Inspect final products for quality assurance, ensuring they meet specifications
• Tag final products for identification
• Maintain, organize, and clean equipment and the work area
• Notify supervisors of faulty equipment or defective materials
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Experience

• Training and experience in GMAW/MIG and FCAW welding
• Thorough understanding of welding machines and tools
• Ability to read weld symbols and follow blueprints
• Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding
• Ability to weld components in vertical, flat, and angled positions
• Strong manual dexterity and stability for precision work

Required Education

• High School Graduate

Work Environment

• This position is hourly, non-exempt, and involves medium physical work.
• Some overtime is required.
• Work involves standing for up to 10 hours per day, with the ability to lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
