Job Description & Requirements

Vestas is seeking a Wind Turbine Technician II in Portales, NM, offering a $2,500 USD sign-on bonus. As a Wind Turbine Technician II, you will be responsible for maintaining and installing wind turbines, working safely and efficiently to ensure operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and installation of wind turbines with minimal supervision.
  • Follow defined schedules, safety protocols, and written/verbal instructions.
  • Climb turbines up to 250 feet, work in confined spaces, and handle tools/equipment.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to entry-level technicians.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure safety, professionalism, and high-quality service.
  • Suggest improvements for safety and work quality.
  • Complete tasks in various weather conditions, demonstrating resilience and flexibility.

Required Experience:

  • At least 1 year of technical wind industry experience, OR six (6) months of technical wind industry experience with a certificate of completion from a wind technician program, OR a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, composite, or heavy machinery.
  • Experience with power tools such as hydraulic, power torque, and diagnostic tools (e.g., Flukemeter functions, hydraulic pressure gauge).
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders while carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Basic computer skills, including internet-based program navigation, and the ability to generate and interpret computer data.
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting drawings and schematics, with attention to detail for safety protocols.
  • A valid driver’s license

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
