Job Description & Requirements

The Delivery & Set Up Driver is responsible for the efficient and safe pick-up, relocation, and delivery of office equipment. This role includes installation and networking of devices as needed, as well as providing basic customer training. Professionalism and service quality play a significant role in influencing future customer decisions. Compliance with all federal DOT requirements and adherence to safety standards is essential.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Safely deliver equipment to designated locations.
  • Maintain log books in compliance with DOT regulations (electronic or manual).
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Perform pick-ups during deliveries to optimize costs.
  • Execute basic equipment installations, including:
    • Setting up IP addresses.
    • Downloading print drivers.
    • Removing hard drives.
    • Backing up and uploading customer address books.
    • Providing basic training on printing devices.
  • Participate in safety programs and adhere to company policies.
  • Contact customers in advance to confirm deliveries when applicable.
  • Meet productivity levels based on workload and experience.
  • Demonstrate technical skills and excellent customer service.
  • Identify customer needs and take appropriate actions, referring calls when necessary.
  • Provide feedback to service teams regarding networking and installation improvements.
  • Complete technical training on new equipment.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in the designated driver uniform.
  • Contact Dispatch or Service Department for technician support as needed.
  • Ensure equipment configuration matches documentation (Bill of Lading, traveler, etc.).
  • Properly load and secure equipment in the vehicle.
  • Use a phone to capture electronic customer signatures upon transaction completion.
  • Ensure all paperwork is signed and properly processed.
  • Assist with truck loading and unloading as needed.
  • Train new Delivery Drivers on proper handling and loading techniques.
  • Follow all accident and incident reporting procedures.
  • Conduct cycle counts and inventory reconciliation as required.
  • Reconcile daily inventory based on completed routes and report discrepancies.
  • Manage inventory valued up to $1,000,000.
  • Overnight travel may be required.
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, stair climbers, and pallet jacks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of two years of medium-duty truck driving experience.
  • Safe driving record and history.
  • On-the-job training with field technicians at customer locations or transfer centers.
  • Experience handling oversized and overweight equipment preferred.

Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license in accordance with company policy.
  • Valid and current medical card.
  • Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) if required by state.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong customer presentation and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with smartphones, tablets, and basic computer skills.
  • Basic technical skills for installing and networking equipment.
  • Ability to read maps and use electronic GPS.
  • Ability to quickly identify and correct at-risk behaviors.
  • Certification on warehouse equipment operation if required.

Work Environment

  • Risk of injuries if proper lifting, moving procedures, and road rules are not followed.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling for servicing equipment.
  • Physical effort required to lift equipment up to 100 lbs. and move equipment up to 1,000 lbs.
  • Work environments include office, warehouse, and vehicle settings.
  • Exposure to chemical solvents and cleaners.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Overnight stays may be required based on DOT regulations or peak delivery periods.
