The Senior Onsite DOT Delivery Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery, pick-up, and relocation of customer packages and mail while ensuring compliance with federal DOT regulations. The role includes maintaining delivery safety standards and requires strong customer service skills.

Primary Responsibilities

• Package Handling and Delivery

  • Ensure proper receiving, sorting, and PO processing of packages and mail.
  • Load and secure packages/mail in the delivery vehicle (boxed van/truck).
  • Pick up mail and packages from customer locations and deliver them to the correct delivery points.
  • Ensure that all mail and packages are delivered in a timely and accurate manner.

• DOT Compliance

  • Maintain log books in accordance with DOT regulations (either electronic or manual).
  • Perform pre and post-trip reviews to ensure the vehicle is safe, clean, and compliant with all DOT and state laws.
  • Participate in safety programs to ensure adherence to safety standards.

• Customer Service and Communication

  • Provide strong customer service and address customer needs promptly.
  • Pre-call customers when applicable to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain professional appearance in accordance with site dress code.
  • Ensure all paperwork is signed and processed correctly.

• Vehicle and Equipment Operation

  • Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, stair climbers, and pallet jacks, as needed.
  • Handle oversized and overweight packages.
  • Follow all accident/incident reporting guidelines and procedures.

• Additional Duties

  • Assist with loading and off-loading trucks as required.
  • Assist in the training of new delivery drivers on current routes.
  • Evaluate and properly handle HAZMAT, perishable, and standard packages.
  • Ensure the correct handling and transportation of perishables, including refrigeration storage and delivery.
  • Maintain the ability to transport items in compliance with DOT requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

• Safe driving record and history.
• Eligibility to drive a commercial vehicle according to FMCSR regulations.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with company policy.
• Pass a road test.
• Valid and current medical card is required.
• Minimum age of 20 years, with a valid driver’s license in the state of residence.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to physically handle oversized and overweight packages.
  • Strong customer service, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with smartphones/tablets and hand-held electronic technology.
  • Adequate reading and math skills and ability to write legibly.
  • May be required to be certified in the operation of warehouse equipment (e.g., forklift, stair climber).

Required Education

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) as required by state law.
• Training related to handling, identifying, and distributing special materials (e.g., HAZMAT, perishables).

Working Conditions

• Work Environment: The job is performed in a variety of conditions, including office, warehouse, and van/truck environments with adequate lighting, ventilation, and normal temperature and noise levels.
• Physical Demands:
  • Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling to service equipment.
  • Lifting and carrying mail/packages weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work independently while interpreting and applying complex material, data, and instructions.
• Safety Considerations:
  • Strict adherence to safety protocols is required to avoid injuries when lifting or moving packages.
  • The driver must follow all road safety rules and regulations.
