Job Description & Requirements
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for executing packaging, shipping, and transporting turbine blades and components. This role also supports factory operations with all heavy equipment needs. The operator will be responsible for operating various heavy equipment to store, distribute materials, tools, equipment, and products. The position offers a pay rate of $23.50 per hour with a $3.00 shift differential for night shifts.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Operates heavy equipment including, but not limited to, Class 1-7 equipment, 40+ Ton Mobile Gantry Crane, 50+ Ton Reach Stacker/Container Handler, 20+ Ton Forklift, Single/dual axle remote steer Dolly, Tractor w/ 3 point, PTO, Front end Loader, Grader, Compaction Roller, Skid Steer, 12k+ Telescopic Forklift.
- Safely operates all heavy equipment in accordance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Performs standard and non-standard lifts on objects up to 9 tons and up to 200 feet in length in all types of lighting and weather conditions.
- Conducts daily safety inspections on equipment and rigging, maintaining inspection records.
- Moves blades to and from production areas, physically prepares blades for shipping, and loads blades on trains or trucks for shipment with proper documentation.
- Directs blade transporters on correct transport interface configurations and procedures.
- Clears and removes snow from walkways and receiving/shipping yard.
- Drives company vehicles to transport items from the warehouse to the plant and for other errands.
- Reviews production, customer orders, work orders, and shipping orders to determine items to be moved or distributed.
- Maintains inspection records, shipment manifests, and inventory records using smartphones/computers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as mobile cranes, forklifts, and other large machinery.
- Experience with heavy lifting, rigging, and safely performing lifts up to 9 tons.
- Experience in transporting large items and managing logistics.
Required Education:
- Certification in any of the following preferred:
- Rigger level 1
- Heavy Equipment Operations
- Mobile Crane
- Rail/truck transport general knowledge
- Valid state driver’s license required.
Work Environment:
- The work environment involves exposure to latex, epoxy, and fiberglass, including fiberglass dust.
- Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the duration of tasks.
- Works as part of a 6-person team to coordinate heavy equipment operations and transport.
