Job Description & Requirements

The Wind Turbine Technician II position at Vestas is a full-time role located in Woodford, IL. Vestas is offering a $2,500 GWO sign-on bonus. The role involves performing scheduled service, troubleshooting, and potential main component or blade repair work on wind turbines. Technicians will work at heights and in confined spaces, with minimal travel requirements and standard shifts of 8-hour days, five days a week, including potential overtime and on-call responsibilities. This position offers strong opportunities for growth within the company.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled service and maintenance on wind turbines.
  • Troubleshoot and analyze faults in turbine systems.
  • Conduct repairs on main components and blades as needed.
  • Work at heights and in confined spaces while following strict safety procedures.
  • Occasionally travel (up to 10% annually) to support other sites.
  • Collaborate in small teams of 2–3 technicians.

Required Experience

  • 2–3 years of experience in mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical work.
  • Wind industry experience and relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and take initiative in daily tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills using the process of elimination.

Required Education

  • Basic Safety Training (BST).
  • Basic Technical Training (BTT).
  • Advanced Rescue Training (ART) certifications from the Global Wind Organization (GWO) are preferred.
