Job Description & Requirements
Embark on a fulfilling career at BNSF Railway, where joining our Engineering Department means contributing to the backbone of our nation's rail infrastructure. As a member of our Track Maintenance Team, you'll play a vital role in constructing, inspecting, and repairing tracks and other railroad assets while maintaining our railway corridors.
This is a full-time (40 hrs/wk) position subject to on-call, overtime, nights, alternating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Travel is required to (and remain at) job sites for extended periods, sometimes for days or weeks at a time, within the designated seniority region.
Training for this position is company-paid, including on-the-job and classroom instruction, and will require travel to the BNSF Training Center.
Salary Range: Entry rate is approximately $38.89/hr.
Primary Responsibilities

Perform track maintenance, including lifting and carrying track materials.

Operate and maintain trucks weighing 26K+ lbs, ensuring safe operation, scheduled servicing, and proper equipment upkeep.

Conduct welding, grinding, and cutting of rail while adhering to BNSF welding procedures.

Maintain accurate records and timesheets.

Work in a safety-sensitive environment, which may include extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, sleet), uneven surfaces, loud noises, fumes, and proximity to heavy/moving machinery.

Follow safety regulations, including wearing required personal protective equipment and responding appropriately to emergency situations.
Required Experience

Must be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship now and in the future.

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Ability to report for duty at the designated work location.

Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs occasionally.

Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with endorsements for combination vehicle, air brake, and HAZMAT or be able to obtain one within 60 days of employment.

Ability to visually distinguish colors (red, blue, green, yellow, and lunar clear light).

Must be able to differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds (signals, alarms, etc.).

Able to use hand tools for grasping, turning, and pulling.

Occasionally required to climb on/off equipment.

Able to bend, walk, stand, and sit for extended periods.

Must follow safety policies and procedures.
