Job Description & Requirements
Vestas is seeking a Wind Turbine Technician II in Cohocton, NY. This position offers a $2,500 sign-on bonus. In this role, you will perform scheduled service, fault analysis, troubleshooting, and work on main components or blades of wind turbines. You will be required to work at heights and in confined spaces, with exposure to the elements. The role includes typical shifts of 8-10 hours a day, 5 days a week, with an on-call rotation for weekends.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled service, troubleshooting, and potential main component or blade work on wind turbines.
- Work at heights and in confined spaces, often exposed to various weather conditions.
- Participate in an on-call rotation schedule for off-work hours (weekends).
- Perform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repair work on components such as gearboxes, main bearings, generators, transformers, and blades.
- Collaborate with a small team of 2-3 people to complete tasks, typically climbing 1-2 turbines a day.
Required Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of extensive repair work on other O&M turbine models/platforms.
- LOTO 2 certification.
- Experience performing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repair work, particularly on main components like gearboxes, main bearings, generators, transformers, and blades in the wind industry.
Required Education
- Basic Safety Training (BST)
- Basic Technical Training (BTT)
- Advanced Rescue Training (ART) certifications from the Global Wind Organization (GWO).
