Job Description & Requirements

Vestas is offering a $2,500 USD / $3,300 CAD sign-on bonus for the Wind Turbine Technician II position. This is an intermediate-level role where you will utilize your electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical experience to perform maintenance and installation work on wind turbines. The position involves minimal supervision, and you may also mentor entry-level technicians. Teamwork, safety, and professionalism are key in this role.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance and/or installation work on assigned wind turbines.
  • Work under minimal supervision while following defined schedules, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to entry-level technicians as needed.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs, sometimes in challenging weather conditions and high altitudes (up to 250 feet).
  • Use tools such as hydraulic, power torque, and diagnostic equipment (e.g., Flukemeter and hydraulic pressure gauge).
  • Climb stairs and ladders, carrying tools and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed (e.g., Confined Space, Energy Isolation).
  • Communicate effectively with customers and collaborate with team members.

Required Experience:

  • At least 1 year of technical wind industry experience, or Six (6) months of technical wind industry experience and a certificate of completion from a wind technician program, or Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, composite skills, or heavy machinery.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Work Environment:

  • This position involves working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • You may work at heights (up to 250 feet) or in confined spaces.
  • Physical demands include climbing stairs and ladders, carrying tools, and working with heavy equipment.
