Job Description & Requirements

Join BNSF Railway as a member of our Engineering Department, contributing to the maintenance and construction of critical rail infrastructure. This full-time position offers an entry pay rate of approximately $35.81-$35.95 per hour.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Construct, maintain, and repair railroad bridges, tunnels, culverts, and other structures.
  • Repair timber bridges, trestles, tunnel supports, and structural steel members of bridges.
  • Place and finish concrete surfaces and perform conventional carpentry work.
  • Read blueprints to determine required materials and dimensions.
  • Assemble, cut, and shape materials, rig materials for hoisting, and operate company vehicles as directed.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and policies, including using personal protective equipment and responding to emergencies.

Required Experience

  • Able to work in various weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, sleet) and on uneven surfaces.
  • Experience working with hand tools, power tools, and heavy/moving machinery.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 90 pounds without assistance.
  • Experience working safely at heights using fall protection equipment.
  • Able to meet travel requirements to job sites, sometimes staying for extended periods.

Required Education

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or be able to obtain one within the first 60 days of employment.

This position involves working in safety-sensitive environments, with conditions that include extreme weather, walking on uneven surfaces, and exposure to loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.
