Production Worker

Position Summary

We are currently hiring for Production Workers at our manufacturing plant in Lockport, New York, about 30 miles north of Buffalo and 20 miles east of Niagara Falls. This is a union role that rotates shifts on a weekly basis. You must be willing to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift hours, as well as weekends, holidays, and overtime (including up to 12-hour shifts) as needed.

Hourly pay rate: $21.05 to $26.32

As a Production Worker, you play a key role in helping us meet goals and objectives by producing specialty materials that are crucial to customers in industries such as aerospace and defense, oil and gas, chemical processing, electrical energy, and medical. You will work in either the Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) or Remelt department, collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineering, maintenance, and quality. Workplace safety is a core value, and you will play a vital role in ensuring safe operations.

Primary Responsibilities

Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM):
  • Transport materials throughout the plant using mobile equipment such as cranes and lift trucks
  • Set up and feed material into molds
  • Arrange and distribute charge material melted in the furnace
  • Perform rebuilding tasks for anneal boxes and other essential manufacturing components
  • Record and track material specifications and manufacturing criteria for quality records
Remelt:
  • Transport materials throughout the plant using mobile equipment such as cranes and lift trucks
  • Assist with setting up and operating equipment within the Vacuum Arc Remelt (VAR) process and Electro-slag Remelt (ESR) process
  • Perform welding (MIG), cutting/sawing, and grinding using various machines and tools
  • Record and track material specifications and manufacturing criteria for quality records

Required Experience

  • 1 year of experience in a transferrable industry with applicable skills
  • Basic reading, math, and measurement comprehension skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, Vo-Tech Certificate, or Associate Degree in electrical, mechanical, or related fields

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability and willingness to operate and/or maintain a variety of operating units
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime in an industrial environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely as a team member
  • Strong reading, math, and problem-solving skills with electrical or mechanical aptitude
