Job Description & Requirements

The Technical Support Technician will provide technical support and process improvement in the manufacturing of wind turbine components, specifically blades. This role is not an IT Help Desk position, but requires a background in manufacturing and production equipment. The hourly pay rate for this role is $25.00–30.00, depending on experience, with an additional $3/hr premium for employees working the night shift.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Own technical support processes within assigned production areas.
  • Ensure production processes are conducted safely.
  • Collaborate with production staff to meet production goals.
  • Troubleshoot process issues and implement solutions to minimize downtime and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Monitor equipment performance, identify issues, and resolve recurring problems.
  • Lead and co-facilitate process improvement and technology transfer projects.
  • Oversee the introduction of new processes and capacity expansion.
  • Update and audit Bill of Materials for assigned production areas.
  • Create, validate, and maintain Production Work Instructions.
  • Develop and update process procedures to ensure clear and accurate documentation.
  • Provide technical support related to product documentation.
  • Interface with management and employees to gather and implement information.
  • Synthesize complex data and translate it into clear visual representations.
  • Balance team and individual responsibilities, accepting and giving constructive feedback.
  • Follow policies and procedures and complete tasks on time.
  • Observe safety protocols and report unsafe conditions.
  • Manage site-specific instructions for the factory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a technical support technician.
  • Experience in composing work instructions.
  • Familiarity with engineering change requests.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Ability to read and understand basic instructions and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or group settings.
  • Strong math skills, including the ability to work with units of measure, fractions, decimals, and ratios.
  • Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions.

Required Education

  • Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
  • At least four years of manufacturing experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Environment

  • The work environment involves exposure to latex, epoxy, and fiberglass, including fiberglass dust.
