Job Description & Requirements
Be part of a team that values safety, diversity, and excellence. This is a full-time (40 hrs/wk) position with a pay range of approximately $35.81-$35.95/hr. As a member of BNSF’s Construction - Structural Maintenance Bridge and Building Team, you will contribute to maintaining and constructing railroad infrastructure, ensuring structural integrity and safety. The position is subject to on-call, overtime, nights, alternating shifts, weekends, and holidays. Training for this position is company-paid on-the-job and classroom training.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform construction, maintenance, and repair of railroad bridges, tunnels, culverts, and other structures.
- Repair timber bridges, trestles, and tunnel supports, and repair/replacing structural steel members of bridges.
- Place and finish concrete surfaces and perform conventional carpentry work.
- Read blueprints to determine required materials and dimensions, layout work, and mark cutting and assembly lines.
- Assemble, cut, shape materials, fasten with appropriate fasteners, rig materials for hoisting, and operate company vehicles as directed.
Required Experience:
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain one within the first 60 days of employment.
- 21 years old or older
- Ability to work safely in diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, sleet), and around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.
- Ability to work at heights and use fall protection equipment.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English, including issuing and acting on oral instructions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 90 pounds without assistance and perform physical tasks such as stooping, bending, and walking on uneven surfaces.

Work Environment:
- The daily work environment includes diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, sleet) and involves walking and performing tasks on uneven surfaces.
- Working around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery is also part of the role.
