Job Description & Requirements
Be a problem solver, trusted advisor, and partner to the people and businesses in our Key Bank communities. Personal Bankers engage clients in deeper conversations to uncover needs and provide guidance and solutions to assist in clients' financial wellness, both in person and through proactive calling efforts. As part of the branch team, the Personal Banker will work toward attracting new clients to Key and work with existing clients to develop and expand relationships based on their unique financial goals, leading to client confidence in their finances. The Personal Banker is a client-first, sales-driven, self-motivated, and competitive individual. Strong and effective teamwork, paired with communication polish and confidence, are critical for this role.
Primary Responsibilities
- Embodies a strong client experience culture, being present with every client and teammate, realizing the impact we can have on their day, personally, professionally, and financially.
- Listen for clues for financial wellness opportunities during client conversations and provide effective and customized financial wellness recommendations.
- Consistently attains individual activity, behavior, and outcome expectations.
- Opening personal and business accounts (consumer checking, small business, various deposit products, home equity, unsecured lending, certificates of deposit, etc.).
- Develop strong partnerships with branch teammates and line of business partners, focusing on client acquisition and deepening relationships with current clients.
- Ensure compliance with operational, risk, security, and audit procedures and policies, including appropriate documentation of client interactions.
- Support branch operations, including assisting with client transactions on the Teller line as needed.
- Participate in and occasionally facilitate morning huddles and end-of-day debriefs.
- Perform other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and/or activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
- Comply with all KeyBank policies and procedures, including acting professionally at all times, conducting business ethically, avoiding conflicts of interest, and acting in the best interests of Key’s clients.
Required Experience
- 1-3 years of experience in developing current and new customer relationships, achieving sales goals, and building referral sources.
- Understanding of consumer credit, including loan to value, debt to income, and credit reports.
- Foundational knowledge of sales and service techniques with clients, including tele-consulting, outside calling, prospecting, and networking.
- Comfortable interacting with small business clients, overcoming objections, and asking fact-finding questions to be helpful.
- Demonstrated experience influencing business partners and leveraging centers of influence.
- Working knowledge of PCs (MS Windows and Office Products including Word, Excel, etc.).
- Working knowledge of digital technology (mobile, apps, web-based browsing) and ability to educate clients on digital platforms and capabilities within Key.
Required Education
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent business experience (required)
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
- Notary License (preferred)
- Mortgage Loan Officer/Loan Officer (MLO/LO) Classification (if applicable)
