The Electrician Diesel Engines position at BNSF in Minneapolis, MN offers a full-time opportunity with a salary range of approximately $34.46-41.02/hr, equating to an annual pay of $71,670.14-85,321 with 3-5 years of seniority. This position involves performing crucial electrical maintenance on locomotive systems and shop machinery in a safety-sensitive environment. Primary Responsibilities:
- Test, inspect, and repair electrical components of locomotive systems and shop machinery.
- Maintain and repair locomotive alternators, generators, motors, power control systems, electrical cabinets, batteries, and wiring.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical components of shop equipment, including drop tables and welding equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure proper function.
Required Experience:
- Ability to work in the US without company sponsorship.
- At least 18 years of age by the anticipated start date.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs without assistance.
- Ability to work safely in various working conditions, including extreme weather, uneven surfaces, loud noises, and heavy machinery.
- Previous practical experience in electrical work is preferred (4 years).
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Ability to visually distinguish colors (red, blue, green, yellow) and differentiate between verbal and non-verbal sounds in the work environment.
- Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights, including on top of locomotives.
Working Conditions:
- Work will be conducted in diverse and extreme weather conditions, including hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet.
- The work environment will involve walking on uneven surfaces, working with heavy/moving machinery, and exposure to loud noises, fumes, and equipment.
