Join BNSF Railway’s Construction - Structural Maintenance Bridge and Building Team as a Helper/Driver. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) position based in Barstow, IL, with an entry rate of approximately $35.81-$35.95/hr. This role involves construction, maintenance, and repairs of railroad bridges, tunnels, and other structures. The position requires travel to job sites for extended periods and is subject to on-call, overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays. Training is company-paid.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Construct, maintain, and repair railroad bridges, tunnels, culverts, and other structures.
• Repair timber bridges, trestles, tunnel supports, and structural steel members.
• Perform concrete work and conventional carpentry tasks.
• Read blueprints to determine materials, dimensions, and layout work.
• Assemble, cut, shape materials, rig materials for hoisting, and operate company vehicles.
• Work in diverse and extreme weather conditions and around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.
• Follow safety regulations, wear safety equipment, and respond to safety concerns and emergencies.

Required Experience:

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment.
• Ability to work safely in various environments and at heights using fall protection equipment.
• Capable of using hand tools and power tools to perform construction activities.
• Able to lift and carry up to 90 pounds without assistance.
• Prior experience with structural maintenance or related fields is a plus.
• 21 years old or older 
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English

Work Environment:

• Work is conducted in a safety-sensitive environment with diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, sleet).
• Physical activities include walking, standing, bending, lifting, and working on uneven surfaces.
• Potential exposure to loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.
